“SHANGHAI 1930” CHEONGSAM CHARITY GALA: TRENDY NEW YORK CELEBRATED CHINESE ELEGANCE AT NYFW

Shanghai in 1930 was considered “Paris of the East” renowned for its chic Cheongsam style dress, a modernized form-fitting fashion popular among socialites.  Still an icon of elegance and sophistication, Cheongsam style is memorably worn by Maggie Cheung in "In the Mood for Love" and Tang Wei in "Lust, Caution".

Trendy New York worked with famous Chinese designers and created “Shanghai 1930”, a limited edition Cheongsam collection designed exclusively for this event, which was featured in the fashion show together with gorgeous Sue Wong gowns.

Fifteen super models (including National Ms. 2014, 2014 Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant Second Runner Up) rocked the runway! In addition to the spectacular “Shanghai 1930” fashion show, 300 guests were entertained by traditional guitar, piano, Guzheng, Chinese dance and PiPa performances. Guests received Shiseido gift bags and three lucky winners won Godiva Mid-Autumn Festival limited-edition gift boxes.

The gala’s silent auction proceeds will be donated in part to "One Foundation" charity organization dedicated to helping improve disaster relief, children's welfare and philanthropy development in China. VIP guests included XiaoGuang Liu, Ambassador of Chinese Consul in New York, Morgan Jones, Senior Advisor of Outreach, NYC Office of Mayor, Derek Wang (CEO of Bell Curve Capital), Dean of Pratt Institute's DDA department, Dean of NYU's Film and Television Department, celebrities, super models and executives from Gilt, Bloomingdale's, Shiseido, Tiffany & Co, Bank of America, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, and fashion bloggers.
